Food isn't a privilege . . . it's a right.
Thanksgiving Farms' main objective is to provide healthy, nutritious, organic produce to those who can't access to it because of financial restraints or due to it's unavailability at the places they shop. As much as we'd like to connect with those folks ourselves, we've decided it's best to stick with what we know and not try to reinvent the wheel. So, we've partnered with local food banks and organizations that already connect with those in need and have distribution mechanisms in place. This model is our solution to localized hunger relief.
During the growing season we harvest and deliver vegetables to area food banks on their distribution day. This reduces the need for special storage of the produce. This has been an amazingly efficient and successful program in Taos.
In 2010 we grew and donated over $10,000 of fresh, nutritious, organic, produce to food banks, Shared Table and St. James Food Pantry
In 2011 we will grow and contribute over $20,000 of the same high quality, healthy produce.
Through income from our new social venture, Beyond Organic WVO Collections, we expect to triple our production each year for the next 3 years. This will expand our giving into more regions of New Mexico. If your Taos based organization could use our fresh produce, please let us know and we will put you on our delivery list.
